1. How it works
When you enter a report and press submit, your completed form is automatically
sent via email to the body responsible for investigating that crime eg benefit
fraud reports are sent to the Department of Work and Pensions, Insurance fraud
reports are sent to the Association of British Insurers etc.
The site is based on one designed and operated by the New Zealand government
which has successfully reported in excess of 250,000 offences in three years
and is believed to have saved over £2billion in false claims.
2. Confidentiality
There is no need to give any details about yourself, although if you wish to
you can enter your contact details in the "any other details " box.
As the form is submitted via ShopThem.com, there is no way your report can be
traced back to you. If you send a text message or an email directly to info@shopthem.com,
this is automatically transferred onto a form by computer and submitted. If you
leave a voice message this is entered onto a form by us and submitted.
3. Why should you
bother?
Because fraud etc is not a victimless crime. Every honest person has to pay
more taxes to pay for the small minority of cheats, and higher insurance costs
to cover fraudulent claims. We pay more in council tax to cover extra police
work and housing benefit fraud.
